Built for homeowners in Durham, NC, the rest of Durham County and five nearby towns, Foundation Repair Durham NC is an information website. Nobody here works as a contractor or an engineer, and no foundation work of any sort is done by us.
Guidance, not a diagnosis. Our pages on warning signs, clay soils, drainage, costs and permits are written to help you think through what you see. They cannot tell you what is happening under your house. Only someone who comes to the house, such as a foundation specialist or a licensed professional engineer, can do that.
About the cost figures. Every cost row is a national range from a home-cost website, This Old House or HomeGuide, with its source and year beside it. No row is a Durham or statewide figure, and none is our price, quote or bid. The calculator uses planning assumptions that its page explains, and a real estimate can fall well outside its range.
About the rules summaries. Our notes on North Carolina law and on the permit offices for Durham and the nearby towns come from public sources we read on October 20, 2026. Because rules get updated and these notes are no substitute for legal advice, check anything important with the office in question or with your own attorney.
No public ties. We name public bodies for information only. The City of Durham, Durham County, the towns and counties we mention, the State of North Carolina, the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors and the state's engineering board do not endorse, sponsor or work with us.
The contractor's own terms. The contractor that receives your request sets its own methods, prices and warranty terms and is responsible for its own work. We promise nothing about results, timing or cost. The state's general contractor license kicks in once a project costs $40,000 or more; for a job in that range, get the license number from the contractor and verify it through the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors. On any job, get a written contract and ask who pulls the permit.
Pictures. Images on the site show common foundation conditions for illustration. None of them shows an actual job, house or business.
